Adventure novelist and member of the British Intelligence services, Hillgarth wrote four novels between 1924 and 1966, The Black Mountain being the third written in 1933. Set in Bolivia this novel follows the adventures of an orphan of mixed heritage who leaves his village and is groomed for success by a wealthy landowner of the Spanish upper class.
This copy is in very good shape with the remarkable dust jacket by Nina Miller Davidson showing slightly more wear.
