Published in 1908, only a year after Carson's birth, this rare diminutive children's book is particularly evocative. The copy shows numerous fingerprints and considerable evidence of handling, suggesting a well-loved and frequently read children's book rather than a copy that simply sat unused on a shelf. While it cannot be documented that these signs of use date from Carson's childhood, the possibility is an especially intriguing one given the book's date and provenance.
