After some time in his young adulthood as a screen writer and newspaperman, mainly reviewing books, and hobnobbing with the likes of Evelyn Waugh, Anthony Powell (1905-2000) joined the military during the Second World War and subsequently started work on his Magnum Opus, A Dance to the Music of Time, a twelve volume novel depicting the interaction between British high society and its bohemian class between the 1920’s and the 1970’s.
The eighth instalment of this twelve volume set continues during the time of the Second World War and is considered to be one of the best depictions of the War experience from the British point of view.
This copy and the price-clipped dust jacket are in very good to fine condition. The second book in the War trilogy within the twelve volume opus, Dance to the Music of Time.
