AT LADY MOLLY'S.

London: William Heinemann, 1957.

1st Edition. First U.K. edition, hardcover (7.1/2x 5.00”, 19.5 x 13.0 cm) with blood red cloth and gilt lettering on dark brown background to the spine wrapped in a Broom-Lynne dust jacket. There is an embossed Heinemann logo stamped on the bottom right back cover, 239 pp.
After some time in his young adulthood as a screen writer and newspaperman, mainly reviewing books, and hobnobbing with the likes of Evelyn Waugh, Anthony Powell (1905-2000) joined the military during the Second World War and subsequently started work on his Magnum Opus, A Dance to the Music of Time, a twelve volume novel depicting the interaction between British high society and its bohemian class between the 1920’s and the 1970’s.
The fourth entry of this twelve volume comedy of manners, At Lady Molly's, situates itself between the two Great Wars with the foreboding rise of Hitler in Germany.
This copy shows some very light wear on the cloth and unclipped Mylar-protected dust jacket and is near fine overall with some edgewear. In wonderful condition for an almost 70 year old book.
