After some time in his young adulthood as a screen writer and newspaperman, mainly reviewing books, and hobnobbing with the likes of Evelyn Waugh, Anthony Powell (1905-2000) joined the military during the Second World War and subsequently started work on his Magnum Opus, A Dance to the Music of Time, a twelve volume novel depicting the interaction between British high society and its bohemian class between the 1920’s and the 1970’s.
The opening salvo of this twelve volume novel cycle, A QUESTION OF UPBRINGING, recounts the story of three boys who meet in the British public school system in the early 1920’s reconnecting again later in their adulthood.
This copy shows some wear on the cloth and price-clipped dust jacket and is rated very good overall. An excellent acquisition to start this twelve volume odyssey.
