A rare piece of ephemera for the Sherlockian collector: A large 10" × 15" manila envelope printed “BSI,” boldly signed in ink by more than twenty attendees of the Baker Street Irregulars Annual Dinner, January 7, 1983, held at the Regency Hotel, New York City. This was the dinner at which Robert E. Thomalen and Arthur Liebman received their investitures—an event also attended by Isaac Asimov, who was invested into the BSI in 1973.

Founded in 1934 by Christopher Morley, the Baker Street Irregulars (BSI) is the oldest Sherlock Holmes society in the world. Membership is by invitation only. Annual dinners, where investitures are bestowed, are considered the pinnacle ceremonies of American Sherlockiana. Items circulated at these dinners, especially those signed by Isaac Asimov, are highly sought after by collectors.
