Cukor directed the 1972 MGM film based on this book. It starred Maggie Smith, Alex McCowen, and Lou Gossett. The film won Best Costume Design in 1973 and had 3 other nominations including Maggie Smith for Best Actress.
George Cukor won an Oscar and Golden Globe awards for Best Director for My Fair Lady in 1964.
