First Edition. Signed by Author. Dated December 1963, approximately 51/2" x 7", one sheet folded into four. With two original woodcuts by Claire Pratt, (E. J. Pratt's daughter) one woodcut on the front of the card, one on the inside of the card, complimenting an original 3 stanza Christmas poem by E. J. Pratt inside, "Grant us Lord amidst the carols, And the chimes that hail thy birth, Deeper anthems from the nations, For thy peace on earth". Signed by Viola and E. J. Pratt on the front of the card: "Christmas Greetings from Ned & Viola Pratt, December 1963". In fine condition. E. J. Pratt, was "the leading Canadian poet of his time." Originally from Newfoundland he lived most of his life in Toronto, Ontario. A three-time winner of the Governor General's Award for poetry he has been called "the foremost Canadian poet of the first half of the century."
