Thurber's characteristically nearly-blind large pencil inscription signed by Thurber to his close friends Morris and Margaret Ernst: "Happy Times / Morris and Margaret / Jim and Helen". (Helen is Thurber's second wife). A fine copy. Quarter cloth over decorated blue boards in a near fine dustwrapper showing light use with a few small stains & minor loss at the spine heel. A very nice example. Rarely seen inscribed. [Bowden A24a]. An annual award, the Thurber Prize, begun in 1997, honors outstanding examples of American humor.
