Frederik George Pohl, Jr. [1919 - ] American science fiction writer, editor & fan, with a career spanning over seventy years. From his first published work, "Elegy to a Dead Planet: Luna" (1937), to his most recent novel, All the Lives He Led (2011). Winner of the National Book Award in 1980 for his novel Jem. Other well-known novels include The Space Merchants (written with Cyril M. Kornbluth) and Gateway. From about 1959 until 1969, Pohl edited Galaxy magazine & its sister magazine if, winning the Hugo Award for If three years in a row. His writing also won him four Hugos & multiple Nebula Awards. He became a Nebula Grand Master in 1993.
