May 7, signed by artist Vanessa Bell, Virginia Woolf's sister, declining on behalf of herself and Clive Bell an invitation for a garden party by Robert Noel Ponsonby, who was the director at the Glyndebourne Festival and later the Edinburgh International Festival and BBC.

Thank you very much for your letter inviting me to the garden party at Glyndebourne on June 26. Unfortunately I have arranged to be abroad with some friends for some weeks.......Yours sincerely Vanessa Bell (and Clive Bell)
