Front of Beige and red dustjacket faded but the back is not. Top stain on dustjacket front with slight tear and wear as per photos. Inside clean boards show light shelf wear - pages bright with tight binding. Size: 4 3/8” x 6 ¾” – 91 pp. and 6 illustrations.

Jane Ellen Harrison was a free thinker. She was a British classical scholar, linguist and University professor in a time when Victorian Woman did not work outside the home. Harrison was affiliated with the Bloomsbury Group of Intellectuals. She was associated with Oscar Wilde, Virginia and Leonard Woolf, George Elliot and Sir Francis Darwin to name but a few of her circle. She was a suffragist and defended women’s rights. She was admired by T.S. Eliot
It is said that Harrison inspired some of the ideas in Virginia Woolf’s “A ROOM OF ONE’S OWN”.
