Signed by Virginia Woolf. Virginia Woolf was busy writing her "novel–essay" "Three Guineas" during this period and may not have had time for new submissions to other magazines and thus wrote this note. "Three Guineas" was published June 1938.
The typed letter, on Woolf's Tavistock Square stationery, reads,
"March 2, 1938, Dear Sir, I regret my delay in answering, but I have been very busy; and I fear that for the same reason I cannot contribute to your Magazine. Please accept my thanks for the invitation. Yours faithfully V.Woolf (Mrs. Woolf)."
The letter has some pen editing over the typing by Virginia Woolf.
Expected fold lines and some discolouration on the edge as shown.
A fine autograph letter from the inner circle of the Bloomsbury Group.
