First Series: [One of only 1250 copies] original white paper boards with handsome Vanessa Bell design printed in brown & green with the original cream dustwrapper [designed by Vanessa Bell] matching the design on the boards which is in near fine condition; light foxing to endpapers, top edge slightly soiled, a bit bowed - Dustwrapper a bit browned [as is usual if you can find one] & lightly chipped. Second Series: [one of 3200 copies published] original bright green cloth, titles to spine gilt; with the Vanessa Bell designed dustwrapper printed in vermillion & azure. A near fine example; some minor foxing to binding & dustwrapper which is slightly darkened. Very nice copies of the first editions, first impressions of both volumes & rarely seen as such & with the added seminal association, as both volumes are signed & dated by Leonard Woolf on the front free endpapers in lavender fountain pen. We know of no other sets signed by L.W. - Kirkpatrick A8a & A18a; Woolmer 81 & 315.
