A near fine copy in a very good dustwrapper [quite uncommon] with a bit of professional mending to the extremities showing modest wear. Inscribed by Sneider on the dedication page. "With sincerest best wishes / and good luck / Vern Sneider / June 11th 1951" A very nice example. The book was subsequently adapted for a play (1953) & film (1956) with the same titles, both written by John Patrick, Staring Marlon Brando, Glenn Ford & Machiko Kyô. In 1970, the Broadway musical Lovely Ladies, Kind Gentlemen by Patrick & Stan Freeman was based on the novel. It depicts the activities of US Army military government officers & personnel in occupied Okinawa during World War II.
