Acknowledgements with dedication to Singer's late brother I. J. Singer - 4pp. of family trees are featured in the text. The first of Singer's books to be translated into English, originally serialized in Yiddish in the 'Jewish Daily Forward'. Recently, the epic story of 'The Family Moskat' has received belated & deserved rave reviews: 'A masterpiece, a triumph of realism', wrote Frederick Raphael in the Sunday Times. An extremely good copy.
